Baseball in the Bush: Connecting Over Sport

It all starts with a conversation.

As travel designers, getting to know our clients goes far beyond where they want to travel or what they want to see. It’s about discovering the interests, passions, and little details that make each person unique and using them to create something truly unexpected.

For one family celebrating a milestone, our client’s love of the Red Sox planted the seed to  create a memorable moment. We brought a favorite passion from home into their travels, introducing it to a warm and welcoming group of people and planning an experience that made everyone feel like a winner that day. 

“For our 50th anniversary, my wife and I took our three daughters and their husbands with our six grandchildren to Kenya for a safari. It is not simple to organize the logistics of four families, but Cherri made sure everything went like clockwork. The highlight was our amazing Wendy Perrin WOW Moment of ‘Baseball in the Bush.’ Cherri knew we liked baseball and arranged what was possibly the first-ever baseball game in Kenya. We were hosted at a local school, and bases were set up on a soccer field. 

The 13 of us taught local volunteers how to play, then we had a game, then we all participated in spear throwing, archery and jumping. Lastly, we had a combined soccer game with us playing alongside the locals. All six grandchildren, from 6 to 15, enthusiastically participated and had a great time. While I am an experienced ‘arrange it myself’ traveler, this WOW Moment was not something I ever could have arranged. It took Cherri's contacts on the ground and months of preparation.”
