Covering over 170,000 acres of the Great African Rift Valley, the Majete Wildlife Reserve is a living, breathing story of recovery and restoration. Once a thriving ecosystem of grassy plains and lush forests, this land had been essentially cleared of its flora and fauna by 2003. It was only after years of hard work tackling poaching and promoting sustainable development that Majete has since come back to life. Today, it is Malawi's only official Big Five (leopard, lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo) game reserve and provides a sanctuary for diverse wildlife, including black rhinos, antelope, warthogs, crocodiles, and hippos.
