Uganda

Uganda was given the name “The Pearl of Africa” by a young Winston Churchill on his journey throughout the continent. Even today the moniker holds, as Uganda’s beautiful and diverse landscapes astonish even the most sophisticated African traveler. Choose your favorite eco-system or spend some time and see it all: Wetlands teem with fish and birds. Predators hunt massive herds of cape buffalo as they cross the vast savannas. Verdant, tropical mountains resonate with a cacophony of calls from a variety of primates from chimps and gorillas to multiple species of monkeys. Perhaps savor the rainbow and drama of the thundering of Murchison Falls as it cascades into the Nile, or relax on the shores of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake.

A Few of Our Favorite Experiences

  • “The trip was amazing. EXPLORE did such a phenomenal job with the itinerary and the accommodations. Each place was better than the next. Thank you for planning such a special trip. The safaris were thrilling—to be that close to the animals in their environment is something I will never forget. The people we met along the way just added to the richness of the experience.”

  • “The trip was amazing. Beyond our expectations! Great staff everywhere we went. They did not make it seem like a generic job. They were genuinely interested in being with us! Our gorilla trekking guide, Echi, made sure we were on the right treks in order to suit our energy capabilities and our need for adventure! We saw so many unusual behaviors from the 3 gorilla families chosen for us to explore!! Every lodge celebrated my kids' engagement in a special way! So amazing and over the top! Really made the trip that much more special than it already was! Thank you to everyone at EXPLORE for their endless patience!! So helpful and available always. Makes a big difference on a trip like this! So glad to have found your company.”

  • “From the beginning, the EXPLORE team listened to our wants and concerns and ensured that every detail was very well planned. This resulted in a truly memorable experience. When asked about the best part of the trip, all three of us immediately said it was our guide, Joseph. We cannot begin to tell you how exceptional, knowledgeable, and kind he was. Joseph clearly wanted us to thoroughly enjoy each day in Uganda. We miss him and would love to have him as a guide in the future. There always seemed to be a surprise, sundowner and breakfast on the savannah, hot water bottles in beds, wake up calls with coffee etc.”

  • “Amazing trip where every day was a revelation, poignant, and beautiful...then the next day was better. EXPLORE put this trip together in 2 weeks. I have traveled with other similar types of travel specialists, and this was the most organized. The team really listened to the type of single traveler that I am, kept me moving at all the right times to go see more and put me in position for authentic experiences and adventure.”

  • “What differentiates Cherri Briggs and EXPLORE from the competition is sheer competence, passion, deep knowledge of the area, excellent relationships with the major providers and the ability to understand what the client wants. Cherri spends over 6 months a year in Africa and is current on developments and has incredibly accurate information of the lodges and the environment and tries to understand what the customer wants. She is right on point with recommendations and understands where the game is, whether you can go off-road to get close up, and what will excite and thrill the customer. She is extremely prompt, always available, values questions and engagement and does not try to fit the client into one pre-planned package like the major agencies but rather specially tailors and customizes the trip for each client. Her planning is meticulous and flawless, and she has a superb office. Cherri knows the people who run the camps and can get immediate answers that are accurate and correct. Her office is precise, and the arrangements have been extraordinary.”
